US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said that they want Finland and Sweden to join NATO as soon as possible. Price did not respond to a question about whether the United States would support Finland joining NATO before Sweden.

Spokesperson Price said at the daily press briefing that he would not answer a hypothetical question, adding: “This is not the question on the agenda.”

“This has always been a discussion about Finland and Sweden joining NATO together. We want to see that too,” Price said.

The February meeting of the tripartite mechanism between Turkey-Sweden-Finland was postponed indefinitely upon Ankara’s request.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, at a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Tobias Billström and Defense Minister Pal Jonson in Stockholm yesterday, said, ” Some do not understand how serious Sweden’s joining NATO is. Provocateurs are trying to prevent Sweden’s membership. With Turkey. “We want to get back to a functioning dialogue,” he said.
