WhatsApp is working on a feature designed to make messaging even easier and more comfortable. The new voice transcription feature translates voice notes into text messages. In short, if you hate audio messages and are fed up with your talkative friends, this feature will save you a lot of time.

According to WABetaInfo, a specialized portal, the function is already present in the beta version for iOS and will transform voice messages into text messages . The company ensures that all transcription operations will be performed on the device and that users’ privacy will always be respected. In short, absolutely nothing will be uploaded to the company’s servers.

The feature is easy to use and seems to be quite efficient in the current beta version, although it may have some problems, for example it may make it difficult to understand some words, and it also does not currently support all languages.

It is not an absolute novelty. Telegram has made a very similar function available to its users, but the difference is that the transcription of voice notes on WhatsApp will be completely free, while on Telegram it is an exclusive perk reserved for Premium subscribers.

In addition to transcription of voice messages, WhatsApp is also working on other new features, such as the ability to respond with reactions to statuses, a better site preview display when inserting a link, and the native version for Macs with M1 processors and M2. However, the release date for the Mac app hasn’t been announced yet.
