We have come to the point where we will catch up with the West for the first time.

MUSIAD Chairman Mahmut Asmalı stated that Turkey has come to the point where it can catch up with the West for the first time in its history, and said, “We have great, great opportunities ahead of us. With the new economic situation that developed after the pandemic, the new economic situation that evolved after the war, we have a lot to offer to Turkey. Many windows of opportunity have opened up. For the first time, Turkey enters the world economic stage in such a prepared way,” he said.

Mahmut Asmalı, Chairman of the Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (MUSIAD), spoke at the event organized by MUSIAD Cologne Branch at the Religious Affairs Turkish-Islamic Union (DITIB) Hall in Cologne, Germany.

Stating that Turkey has come to the point where it can catch up with the West for the first time in its history, Asmalı said, “We have great opportunities ahead of us. Along with the new economic situation that developed after the pandemic, and the new economic situation that evolved after the war, many windows of opportunity were opened to Turkey. It is the first time that Turkey enters the world economic stage in such a prepared way,” he said.

“Our chest is swollen”

Asmalı said, “We went to ASELSAN on October 12, we went to TUSAŞ, we went to HAVELSAN, we went to ROKETSAN. We visited the giant industrial establishments of Turkey. Believe me, our chest swelled. ‘ he said. Referring to the development of the Turkish defense industry, Asmalı said:

“While Turkey had a 20 percent domestic and nationality rate 20 years ago, today this rate has increased to 80 percent. Turkey is now in a position to sell its own tanks, aircraft, artillery and many defense vehicles to many important countries of the world, as well as for its own army. “We have even come to a position to negotiate whether or not to sell to some of them. Turkey’s great success in the military and defense field also makes its voice very loud in the political field. Therefore, we have a strong country that you can all be proud of in terms of the state our country is in.”

“Turkey is approaching its export target of 300 billion dollars step by step”

Zafer Sırakaya, AK Party Istanbul Deputy and Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Subcommittee on Turks Abroad and Related Communities, said that Turkey has come a long way in the last 20 years with its competitive and strong production, qualified manpower, technical infrastructure and geopolitical position.

Noting that Turkey was growing at a time when Europe went into recession, Sırakaya stated that the export target of 300 billion dollars was approached step by step.

Mentioning the importance of Turkish-German relations, Sırakaya reminded the story of migration from Anatolia to Germany that started 61 years ago, and stated that Turks in Europe wrote a great success story here during this time.
