Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will get 16 multiplayer maps at launch
Insider TheGhostOfHope tweeted that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will launch with 16 multiplayer maps. 11 of them are for 6v6 modes, and the remaining 5 are for large-scale battles in Ground War.
Important clarification: the maps for Ground War are pieces of locations from the Al-Mazra map for Warzone 2.

The number of maps in Modern Warfare 2 is inferior to Vanguard, which had 20 locations at launch.
The full release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled for October 28th. On November 16, the DMZ mode (similar to Escape from Tarkov) and Warzone 2 will launch. Raids for three and a new map for multiplayer will appear in mid-December.
