Pfizer and BioNTech have applied to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for emergency use in children aged 6 to 4 years of reminder vaccines, which are tailored to the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
The bivalent COVID-19 vaccine, which targets BA.4/BA.5 Omicron variants in addition to the original coronavirus, exhibits stronger efficacy than previous vaccines against novel coronavirus variants, according to a study published last month.

The company said that if the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gets permission, children will receive two doses of the original Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccine and one bivalent vaccine, also known as a ‘variant vaccine’ according to Omicron.
