Uber announces users are taking action to collect earthquake relief

Users will be able to call the “Earthquake Assistance” option free of charge, which will be available on Wednesday, February 8-9-10, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, between 10:00-17:00 in the Uber application in Istanbul.

Two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6 that took place on February 6 deeply affected 11 provinces. In order to support the earthquake region, all of Turkey mobilized for assistance. In this context, Uber announced in an email to its users that it will collect earthquake aid from users.

According to the information shared, users will be able to call the “Earthquake Assistance” option free of charge, which will be available on the Uber application in Istanbul on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8-9-10 February, between 10:00-17:00. It will be able to deliver earthquake aids in a portable way to the relevant taxi driver

Uber also shared a list of needs with its users. He also pointed out that the items mentioned in the list must be new, unused and clean. The list of materials needed in the earthquake zone shared by Uber includes blankets, duvet covers, pillows, clean baby clothes, powerbank, winter boots, winter coats, scarves, berets and gloves. 

The collected aid will be delivered to the Yenikapı Eurasia Exhibition Center and Kartal Logistics Centers of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality to be delivered to the earthquake zone. It should be noted that second-hand products will not be accepted in the aid materials, only unused materials will be accepted. 

Finally, it is worth adding that the “Earthquake Assistance” request will be directed to a taxi driver partner who works for this campaign and is available at the moment closest to the Uber user.
