Twitter, one of the founders rejects Elon Musk: “he is not the right person to lead the social network”
Biz Stone also admitted that running a social network is one of the toughest tasks ever. “You are doomed to make many of your users hate you.”
Not everyone likes Twitter’s management, especially advertisers, who are abandoning the platform en masse: advertising revenues plummeted by 70% during the month of December, thanks to a boycott campaign by some of the largest advertising and consulting agencies in the US.
This time the rejection comes from Biz Stone, one of the founders of Twitter . According to Stone, Elon Musk has so far proved not to be the best person to lead the social network. However, the former Twitter executive himself admitted that his judgment could be hasty. “Clearly I could be wrong,” he added.
Interviewed by The Guardian, Biz Stone explained that managing a social network is always an extremely delicate task, because inevitably any choice will end up leaving many dissatisfied users. «Win-win situations don’t exist, with each change you can make a maximum of 50% of users happy, while the remaining 50% will hate your guts».
Biz Stone also added that, by the very nature of social platforms, you have to resign yourself to the idea of owning a platform where there will be a lot of things posted that I disagree with and that you don’t wish existed. “You have to deal with it, otherwise it is better that you buy a magazine or a newspaper that can afford the luxury of having editorial control over what is published”.
