Also, in episode 2 of Building The Last of Us, Blooming Terror, executive producers of HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us, Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin, discuss the philosophy behind adapting the action games of The Last of Us in the live-action version of The Last of Us. Druckmann discusses his television directorial debut with the second episode of The Last of Us on HBO, while one of the original voices of the Clickers reflects on the enduring legacy of these foes in their live-action debut.
Also interesting is a “detail” that differentiates the video game and the series, namely the approach to wounds and related treatments.
According to Mazin:
We like action scenes better if they are unique and standalone, with each one having a different impact on the story. In the serial, we had to do some things differently from the game, [for example] the game has healing mechanics. But these are things that do not make sense in a TV series. You can’t crouch down, blindfold yourself and go back to your seat. So, violence has a different impact. Even small doses of violence can do a lot of damage, damage that could last much longer, if not be permanent.
