The first Call of Duty Warzone is officially back, but there’s bad news

The first Warzone will now be called «Call of Duty Warzone Caldera», but the battle royale returns with fewer features.

When the debut of Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 was announced , Activision had let slip a very important promise: the new battle royale would not have “replaced” the one already loved by millions of players, promising their possible co-existence.

A very important promise, especially considering the ambitions of a strong battle royale of the success just achieved by Modern Warfare 2 (which you can find on sale on Amazon ), but which just a few hours ago seems to have been officially kept.

The original battle royale is in fact officially back available on the main video game stores, even if it will now have a new name: as had already been anticipated by a well-known insider , users will now be able to face nostalgic battles on « Call of Duty Warzone Caldera ».

However, as reported by Destructoid , fans who hoped to be able to relive the same experiences have received bad news: “ Warzone 1.0″ has been released in a much more truncated version than the original counterpart.

The first Call of Duty Warzone is officially back, but there's bad news

In fact, Warzone Caldera includes only the Quads and Solos modes , together with the homonymous Caldera as the only playable map of the battle royale. It goes without saying that the removal of the previous features can only have caused discontent within the community, even if it was probably an inevitable prospect.

In fact, Activision will want to concentrate all its efforts on Warzone 2.0 , which will necessarily have to welcome the majority of users interested in this type of gameplay. Bringing the original Warzone back online with Caldera is therefore a bonus, but it is clear that the developers have preferred to keep only the most popular game categories.

Anyone who wants to return to Caldera will in any case have to download additional additional data packages on their console or PC, thus significantly increasing the weight of a game that has often been the subject of criticism precisely because of its impressive size.

After all, considering that Warzone 2.0 has already managed to obtain important records, registering 25 million players in just 5 days , it seems very difficult that Activision can return to the previous battle royale with lots of new content.

If nothing else, “ Warzone 1.0 ” has officially returned to being playable, albeit in a reduced form, unlike what happened to another famous Blizzard property: in fact, we recall that the servers of the first Overwatch were shut down forever due to the launch of the sequel as an update.
