Electricity exports of Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan increased by 10.7 percent in the 10 months of the year compared to the same period last year. Afghanistan pays 4.11 cents and Uzbekistan 2 cents for one kilowatt-hour of electricity sold by Tajikistan.
In the statement made by the Tajikistan State Statistics Institute, it was stated that Tajikistan sold electricity worth 101 million dollars to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan in the January-October period, while the revenue from the sold electrical energy increased by 10.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Reminding that Tajikistan sold 91.3 million dollars of electricity to these countries in the January-October period of last year, no information was given about the amount of electricity delivered to these two countries in the 10 months of this year. In the statement, it was also stated that the share of electricity in the country’s total exports in the January-October period was 5.7 percent.
Afghanistan pays 4.11 cents and Uzbekistan 2 cents for one kilowatt-hour of electricity sold by Tajikistan. Tajikistan is temporarily suspending electricity exports to neighboring countries from autumn due to the decrease in the amount of water in the rivers.
Tajikistan, which produced 20.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity last year, earned $77.1 million from the 2.4 billion kilowatt-hours it sold to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
