CD Projekt Red Confirms It’s Working On 2 Different AAA Productions

Considering the number of brands to which the company has rights, it seems that it is not difficult to guess the games in development.

Announcing a new DLC to be added to Cyberpunk 2077 with the Night City Wire event it held in the past days, CD Projekt Red also presented the 1.6 Edgerunners update added to the game. One of the highlights of the DLC called Phantom Liberty was that we could see the character of Johnny Silverhand played by the beloved actor Keanu Reeves in the game again. The DLC, which is planned to be released in 2023, continues to be developed by the team now.

On the other hand, the studio announced that it has developed a new game for The Witcher series in the past months . The most striking detail about the new Witcher game was the cat school medallion in the promotional image. The studio, which gave up its own game engine Red Engine, made an agreement with Epic Games for the new game and switched to Unreal Engine 5.

However, it looks like the new The Witcher game isn’t the only one CD Projekt Red is developing. The statements of CEO Adam Kiciński drew attention in the financial report for the first half of 2022 , which was published on the official website of the studio recently  ;

“We are revisiting a world that is an integral part of CD PROJEKT history. Thus, as announced last year, CD Projekt RED started working on two AAA projects in parallel.”

One of those projects is of course the next game in The Witcher series, which was confirmed to be in early development earlier this year. It is not mentioned what the second project mentioned is, but if we look at the brands in the hands of the studio, we can assume that the work has started on the next Cyberpunk game. Because last year, Kiciński confirmed that CD Projekt Red will start developing new projects on IPs it owns in 2022, and the two IPs CD Projekt owns are The Witcher and Cyberpunk.

But unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like we’ll hear from the new The Witcher game or this secret project under development anytime soon. The studio is currently working on the previously mentioned Phantom Liberty expansion, on the one hand, and on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of The Witcher 3, on the other. The Phantom Liberty update is scheduled to hit PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Stadia next year, while The Witcher 3’s new version update is scheduled to be released later this year.
