Putin meets with Iraqi Prime Minister Sudani

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.
According to the Kremlin’s statement, the two sides discussed a number of current issues on the agenda and developments in the oil markets.

In the meeting, the activities carried out by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the OPEC+ group, which consists of non-OPEC oil producing countries, were evaluated positively, and it was emphasized that OPEC+ studies provided stability in the global oil market.
At the meeting, where some Western countries’ attempts to impose a ceiling price on Russian oil were also discussed, Putin stated that the step in question was against the market rules and would have serious consequences for the global energy market.
During the meeting, developments in northern Iraq were also discussed.
