150 million dollars of support from the USA and Egypt to combat climate change

It has been reported that the USA and Egypt will provide 150 million dollars of support to accelerate the efforts of the African continent to combat climate change.

According to the statement made within the scope of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), the support in question will be used in parts for closing the air, water, climate observations gap in Africa and for climate adaptation center and infrastructure works.

In addition, support to countries with weak economies in Africa and the mobilization of the private sector for clean energy installations will also be included in the scope of the support.

Within the framework of the new initiative in Egypt, inefficient natural gas production plants of 5 gigawatts will be closed and a solar and wind power plant with a capacity of 10 gigawatts will be built.

Making a statement on the subject, US Special Representative for Climate John Kerry stated that they are working in close contact with stakeholders in the fight against climate change and said:
“Climate change affects all developed, underdeveloped and developing countries. By 2030, annual clean energy investments need to triple and reach $4.2 trillion by 2030.
