Poverty has increased in the dynamo of the European economy

In the research conducted by the Economic and Social Sciences Institute (WSI) affiliated to the Hans Böckler Foundation in Düsseldorf, it was noted that the rate of those with less than half of the middle income, who are called “very poor”, increased by 40 percent in the 2010-2019 period.

In the research, it was pointed out that the Kovid-19 epidemic, the increase in energy prices and high inflation may increase this rate even more in the future.

Despite the good economic development and decreased unemployment in the last 10 years, it was emphasized in the research that poor households could not benefit enough from this, and that these households even went further in economic terms.

It was also stated in the research that the poverty line, which was 2,968 euros per household in 2010, was 3,912 euros in 2019.
