Samsung is now in a prominent position in the market as regards the cameras of its devices, with industry giants such as Apple and Google that seem to be about to make a leap in quality thanks to Sony . In fact, we are talking about customers of the Japanese company, which is mainly based on software optimizations rather than hardware, bringing cameras from a few MP like those of the iPhone to sensational results.

Now that Google has switched to Samsung’s 50MP ISOCELL GN1 sensors, and upcoming Apple Pro smartphones could offer a 48MP camera, the situation is also changing for Sony, which plans to work on its first 100MP sensor.

Speaking of all was the well-known leaker Digital Chat Station , who talked about how this will be part of the company’s IMX8 series , and that it would be working on the IMX9 to compete with Samsung’s devices. DCS had talked about how Sony’s 50MP sensors would be called IMX989, eventually ending up in the Xiaomi 12 Ultra .

At the moment there are no official details in any case, and we will have to wait for a response from the company on the situation in order to find out more.
