Nothing, the CEO speaks: “ready to launch a new smartphone capable of challenging the iPhone”

The real mission? Stealing ground from Apple, which has virtually no rivals in the United States.
Carl Pei , former co-founder of OnePlus and CEO of Nothing reveals the plans of his new company. “In 2023, the first Nothing smartphone will debut also for the US market”.
The company founded by Carl Pei has sold over 1 million products worldwide, including 600,000 wireless headphones and around 500,000 Nothing Phones (1) . However, the first Nothing branded smartphone was released exclusively in Europe and Asia.
“We are now in talks with some US operators to be able to bring our future products to the US as well,” confessed Carl Pei. The real mission? Stealing ground from Apple , which has virtually no rivals in the United States. “One day it could have 80 percent of the market share,” Pei explains.
“But the American market is also where there is certainly already a lot of interest in our products. If we launch our smartphones here, I think we could have excellent growth margins,” he added.
“We have chosen not to bring the Nothing Phone (1) to the USA due to the atypical nature of this market, which requires higher-than-standard technical support to satisfy the needs of each individual mobile network operator,” he said. “We didn’t feel ready yet.” Nothing currently sells its smartphones at a loss and doesn’t expect to make a profit before 2024.
