Millions recognized her with the phrase ‘Ms. Zeynep, don’t be afraid’… The German rescuer told his experiences in Turkey days later!
The eyes and ears of the world have been on Turkey for weeks. After the earthquake, rescue teams came to Turkey from all over the world. Daniel Lankers, the doctor of the German rescue team ISAR Germany, was engraved in the memories with the sentence “Don’t be afraid, Ms. Zeynep”. The German rescuer told the country’s press what he experienced in Turkey days later!
An Image Taken During The Work Of The Search And Rescue Team From Germany in Kahramanmaraş became viral in a short time.
In the video in question, a member of the team was calling out to the woman under the rubble with a few Turkish words he had learned and saying, ‘Ms. Zeynep, don’t be afraid Daniel is here’.
Daniel Lankers, who was engraved in the memory of millions with the Turkish sentence he coined during this critical period, answered the questions of German DW.
‘I CAN’T BE AS STRONG AS Ms. ZEYNEP’
Stating that he knows a few words in different languages to comfort his patients as he has been an emergency room physician for years, the German doctor said, ‘No matter how much strength I gather, I cannot be as strong as Zeynep Hanım’.

Stating that ‘what we experienced in Turkey was new, both as a physician and as a human being’, Daniel said that they talked to Zeynep for hours through a thin hole left open between the concrete and the debris.
‘I TRIED TO RESPOND TO HIS STRENGTH’
The German doctor said, ‘There was a woman lying in the rubble for hours in front of me, which I could partially see,’ and continued his words as follows;
‘ Her voice was quite strained and I felt she was worried. Despite this, he was incredibly strong, resilient. So I tried to counter his strength.’
Describing the moments when the earthquake victim was pulled out of the rubble after hours of rescue work, the German doctor used the following statements;
‘When the first sun rays fell on her face, she smiled, and was happy when she heard her brother Zübeyde’s voice. It was an incredible moment for all of us. Despite this, he was trapped under the rubble for more than 100 hours, his injuries were serious, his life was in danger, unfortunately it happened as we feared.’ Zeynep passed away
