Magnitude 7 earthquake in Solomon Islands

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7 occurred in the Guadalcanal region of the Solomon Islands, the country of Oceania.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a magnitude 7 earthquake occurred at 13:03 local time, 57 kilometers southwest of the capital, Honiara.

The Solomon Islands Meteorological Agency announced that there is no tsunami risk for the earthquake that occurred at a depth of 15 kilometers in the Guadalcanal region.

Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center announced that dangerous waves could approach the shores of the island nation.
