The satellite images show us a truly disturbing sight . The ongoing climate crisis has caused a series of truly extreme weather events in Pakistan . In spring there was a record heat wave, as a result of which there were frightening floods . About a third of the country (of the surface area equal to that of Colorado) is under water.

The gravity of these floods, caused by clouds that have poured over the country a quantity of water ten times higher than normal, showed us the Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellite of the European Space Agency so that the Indus river has practically transformed into a the needle.

According to reports, about 33 million people are affected by this disaster, half of whom are children, and over 1100 people have died. The estimated damages are expected to be around 10 billion dollars.

These adverse weather conditions are mainly caused by climate change, but it must be considered that Pakistan is responsible for only a very small part of greenhouse gas emissions.
