Kazakhstan State Oil and Gas Company (KazMunayGaz) Chairman of the Board of Directors Magzum Mirzagaliyev met with Michael Kellner, Parliamentary Secretary of the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, via videoconference.
During the meeting, in which German Left Party Bundestag Member Christian Görke, who was in the capital Astana, was also present, the parties discussed the export of Kazakh oil to the refinery in the city of Schwedt.
During the meeting, the German side expressed that the Schwedt oil refinery is the “heart” of the economy of the Brandenburg province in the east of the country and expressed their desire for a stable supply of raw materials from Kazakhstan to the refinery through the Druzhba pipeline.
Mirzagaliyev also confirmed the possibility of delivery of Kazakh oil to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline, but noted that contractual and technical issues need to be resolved.
Stating that Kazakh oil primarily meets the needs of the refineries in Romania, the rest is sold to other countries under long-term contracts, Mirzagaliyev said, “With the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan (Kasim Cömert Tokayev), KazMunayGaz decided to send oil to Germany as a trial batch as early as January 2023. evaluating it.” said.
