Apple has officially admitted the existence of an annoying bug affecting the user experience of its most recent top-of-the-range. Numerous users have reported seeing horizontal lines flashing on the screen of their iPhone 14 Pro and (it seems more frequently) iPhone 14 Pro Max. The annoying glitch occurs when the phone is turned on.

The first clues date back to a month ago, when the specialized site MacRumors had reported that a growing number of users had reported seeing green and yellow horizontal lines flash on the screen of their phone when the device is turned on.

At the time we did not have accurate information on the problem: we did not know if Apple was already investigating, nor did we know if it was a hardware or software problem. In principle, the hope is that it is always a software defect , given that the latter are almost always easily solved with a patch, while the former require the replacement of the defective device (with a prolonged inconvenience over time).

With a new note, Apple has acknowledged the problem and has denied that the glitch depends on a hardware defect. In short, it is an iOS problem that will soon be fixed with a patch . “Customers who have purchased an ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ may in some cases experience an issue that causes flashing horizontal lines to appear briefly when turning on or unlocking the phone,” reads a note obtained and published by the MacRumors website. “Apple is aware of the issue and is working on a software update that will fix the issue once and for all.”

iOS 16.3 is currently in beta, but the update is expected to be released at a later date. A matter of several weeks. Apple is still expected to release iOS 16.2.1 – which follows the release of iOS 16.2 last month – to fix this and other problems users are experiencing. We will have to wait a few more days.
