iCloud for Windows in chaos: “I keep seeing photos of strangers and videos are corrupted”, hundreds of reports

“I’ve seen photos of families with people I have no idea who they are, or photos of football games and other random images,” says one user.
iCloud for Windows is having problems… to put it mildly. According to reports from more and more users, the Windows desktop version of iCloud would have started showing photos of some strangers in the feed , with huge consequences for the privacy of those directly concerned.
That wasn’t enough, it would seem that videos made using an iPhone 13 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro and synchronized with iCloud are irreparably compromised. In other words: the files get corrupted and are difficult to recover, or their quality is compromised by some visual glitch.
iCloud for Windows corrupts videos made using an iPhone 14 Pro Max – writes a user on Reddit -, in simple terms: the videos appear black with noise lines. Other times they are interpolated with still frames from unknown sources, perhaps even from other people’s iCloud folder. I’ve seen photos of families with people I have no idea who they are, or photos of football games and other random images . Needless to say, this is an extraordinarily worrying issue and I currently don’t feel very safe continuing to use the Clouds
Currently the causes of the problem are not known and there doesn’t even seem to be a ‘do-it-yourself’ solution. Some users have tried uninstalling and reinstalling i Cloud for Windows, however, without solving the problem in any way.
