‘Don’t profit from war’ warning to Norway

With the invasion of Ukraine, Norway became Europe’s number one supplier of natural gas. Oslo expects $109 billion from oil and gas this year.

Last year, revenues were at the level of 82 billion. At this point , Norway is accused of profiting from the war. The Warsaw administration urged Oslo to share its earnings with Ukraine . On the other hand, Norwegian officials argue that high prices are the result of free market conditions and that they do not pursue profits.

‘IT’S NOT OUR FAULT’

The Oslo government also draws attention to the fact that they comply with the EU’s sanctions against Russia in the face of the reactions. The Norwegian Ministry of Energy has denied accusations that they profited from the invasion, saying that the rising prices due to the Ukraine war also hurt Norway. “It’s not our fault that prices have gone up,” said some Norwegian lawmakers. Officials from Brussels and Oslo, who met in Prague last week, announced that they had agreed to “develop common tools” to lower energy prices.
