Hogwarts Legacy: Simon Pegg will voice Phineas Nigellus Black.
The highly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy unveils the cast of exceptional voices that will give life to the characters of the game Avalanche: among them, there is also Simon Pegg.
The release date of Hogwarts Legacy is getting closer and closer and here comes some interesting details about its characters… and their interpreters. It is not strange that, in some cases, to dub the protagonists and NPCs of well-known video games and the highly anticipated title set in the 1800s of the Magical World of Harry Potter will not be outdone: today, in fact, the announcement that the principal of Hogwarts in charge during the period of time examined by the game will be Phineas Nigellus Black, played by none other than Simon Pegg, British actor known for films such as Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz but also for sagas such as Star Trek, Star Wars and Mission:Impossible.
The Harry Potter film saga, over the years, has raided almost all the most famous English actors, but until now there hadn’t been a role destined for Pegg, who now, however, becomes part of the famous Black family, in the as the ancestor of Sirius, who was Headmaster of Hogwarts in the late 1800s. It is not, as fans of the novels will remember, a character invented specifically for the game, but a great-great-grandfather created directly by JK Rowling for the literary saga, where he is mentioned and present as a talking picture, also briefly re-proposed in the feature film of The Order of the Phoenix, played in this case by John Atterbury.
As remarked by Pegg himself, he is not a positive character, as bearer and exponent not only of the merits but also of the defects of the Slytherins: he is remembered as the most historically detested among the principals of Hogwarts, for his lack of interest in his students and the contempt in judging them; a shame that influenced the election of other presidents of his House for over a century.
And if Pegg deserved an exclusive presentation featurette, it is not the only announcement of the cast: these are the other names revealed.
- Sebastian Croft and Amelia Gething will be the interpreters of the protagonist, in the respective male and female versions;
- Lesley Nicol will play Professor Matilda Weasley, Ron’s ancestor;
- Luke Youngblood (who played Lee Jordan as a boy in the film saga) will be the student Everett Clopton of Ravenclaw;
- Asif Ali will be the Ravenclaw student Mahendra Pehlwaan;
- Kandace Caine will have a double role: that of the Gryffindor student Natsai and that of the girl’s mother, professor Onai;
- Sohm Kapila, however, will be the professor Satyavati Shah;
- Finally, we have Jason Anthony, who will voice both the Sorting Hat and Nearly Headless Sir Nick;
