Hanau victims commemorated

Ferhat Unvar (22), Sedat Gürbüz (30), Fatih Saraçoğlu (34), Gökhan Gültekin (37), and Mercedes Kierpacz, who were shot and killed by racist Tobias Rathjen three years ago in Hanau, Hessen, Germany, on February 19, 2020. (35), Hamza Kurtovic (21) Said Nesar El Hashemi (21), Vili Viorel Pun (23), and Kaloyan Velkov (32) were commemorated with a ceremony.

Hanau Mayor Claus Kaminsky, speaking at the commemoration ceremony held at the “Marktplatz” square in Hanau city centre, said, “February 19 is a test day for Hanau. It will be a test to measure how far we can go against hatred and racism, and to see where we stand in defending our constitution and values,” he said. In Other Cities Of Germany , commemoration events and anti-racism protests were held in Hanau.
