New record in Eurozone producer prices

Producer prices in the Eurozone rose by a record 37.9 percent year on year.

The Producer Price Index (PPI) in the Euro Zone increased by 37.9 percent in July compared to the same period of the previous year due to the increase in energy prices.

The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) has released the July PPI data of the European Union (EU) and Eurozone. Accordingly, the PPI in the EU increased by 3.7 percent in July compared to the previous month and by 37.8 percent compared to July of 2021.

In the Euro Zone, the PPI increased by 4 percent in July compared to the previous month and by 37.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

In the said period, producer prices increased by 97.2 percent in the energy sector and by 21.4 percent in intermediate goods on an annual basis in the Euro Area.

Among EU countries, PPI increased the most in Romania with 67.4 percent, Bulgaria with 55.9 percent and Denmark with 55.1 percent in July.

The PPI was 38.1% in Germany, 27.2 percent in France, 40.4 percent in Spain, 45.9 percent in Italy and 43.8 percent in Belgium.
