The TV series based on God of War has been in the works for a long time at Prime Video, but today comes the official announcement that the show will take place, with Rafe Judkins (The Wheel of Time) as showrunner and producer and Mark Fergus & Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man, The Expanse) as producers and writers. It will be an Amazon Studios co-production with Sony Television and PlayStation Productions.

God of War is a compelling character-driven franchise that we believe will appeal to our viewers around the globe with its vast, immersive worlds and stories.

says Vernon Sanders, head of global television at Amazon Studios.

The series began its development in March and will apparently follow the events starting from the first episode for PlayStation 4, which was a sort of soft-reboot after the epics lived on PlayStation 2, 3, PSP and Vita.
I will therefore narrate the perilous journey of Kratos and his son to scatter the ashes of his beloved wife on the top of the highest mountain. A feat that soon turns out to be epic, which will test the bond between father and son and force them to fight monsters and gods for the fate of the world.
The video game series, currently in the hands of Santa Monica Studios, has been going on since 2005, alternating hack’n’slash and action adventure, with our anti-hero engaged in fighting monsters, demons and real gods for his thirst for revenge or justice .
The TV series is added to the various film and television projects currently underway for PlayStation Productions, such as the already seen Uncharted, the very upcoming The Last of Us , but also the Gran Turismo film and the Twisted Metal and Horizon series . Note the fact that PlayStation Productions is not linked to a particular platform, indeed it seems to have wanted to test as many terrains as possible between cinema, Netflix, Prime Video, HBO and Peacock.
