Full support from the European Union to Libya

The United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU) called on the Libyan parties to put the issue of human rights at the center of the peace process.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and the EU Mission in Libya made a written statement on the occasion of December 10, World Human Rights Day.

In the statement of UNSMIL, it was stated that human rights violations continue in the country and the state of impunity has become widespread, and this situation has turned sustainable peace into a dream.

The statement called on the Libyan parties to put the issue of human rights at the center of the peace process.

In the statement of the EU Mission in Libya, it was stated that full support was given to Libya in terms of ensuring stability and establishing peace.

Stating that “the transition from conflict to national reconciliation is a path that Libyans must walk together,” it was noted that Libyans’ efforts to restore confidence in state institutions and take concrete steps to make the criminal law operative would be supported.

In the statement, it was emphasized that the fight against impunity, the protection of all civilians, including immigrants, against violence, and the prevention of violations are decisive steps to be taken in the establishment of peace.
