Export of 354.9 million dollars from the fresh fruit and vegetable sector in November

Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Board of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that Turkey’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports in November amounted to 354.9 million dollars and said that they focused on the countries in the south of Asia to increase market diversity.

Noting that they organized a national participation organization in the Asia Fruit Logistica Fair in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, Chairman Ferhat Gürüz stated that they brought together the officials of the company, which is one of the largest retail chains in India, with the exporters in Mersin.

“We expect citrus exports to be paved in Thailand”

Pointing out that the main markets for Turkey’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports are the European Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Middle East, Chairman Gürüz said that they are continuing their efforts to reach new markets at a high pace. Gürüz said, “As the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, we organized a national participation organization in the Asia Fruit Logistica Fair, which was held in Bangkok between 2-4 November. 12 companies participating in the fair, where more than 420 companies from 42 countries opened stands, introduced Turkish fresh fruits and vegetables with the organization of our Association. He held fruitful talks to increase the current export of apples. In this market, studies are carried out to open the export of citrus products.

Underlining that India, with a population of approximately 1.4 billion, is also a huge market, President Gürüz stated that they are making an effort to increase the export value of approximately 60 million dollars, which they achieved in the 11 months of 2022, to much higher levels. Stating that 15 companies participated in the India Special Qualified Purchasing Mission event, in which Mediterranean Exporters’ Associations (AKİB) is a stakeholder, President Gürüz said, “We held productive B2B meetings with Indian buyers who came to our country on November 10. Indian importers toured the packing houses in Mersin and Karaman and the gardens in Niğde. We conveyed information about production, harvest and post-harvest processes. The buyers who took part in the HhoHHHOooo India Special Qualified Buyers Committee, which continued until November 20, also met with our exporters in Izmir and Istanbul and established new trade bridges.

“We introduced our production power and export capability in citrus”

Stating that they attach special importance to citrus, which is the most important product group in the export of fresh fruits and vegetables, President Gürüz said that they introduced the production power and export capability of the sector to professionals from all over the world at the 14th International Citrus Congress held in Mersin and the following Mersin Citrus Festival. told. Stating that they take great care to act with a common mind in order to make efficient, quality and safe production sustainable in addition to these works, President Gürüz said that they held a consultation meeting with the Mersin Commodity Exchange and Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry professional committees, and that they are looking for solutions to current problems in the export of fresh fruits and vegetables. . President Guruz, 

“We exported the most to Russia, Ukraine and Romania in November”

Evaluating the November exports of the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector according to product groups and countries, President Gürüz said: “Our sector, which evaluated 565 thousand 406 tons of products in international markets in the 11th month of the year, reached the highest export values ​​in tangerines, lemons and grapes. We exported 109.3 million dollars of mandarin, 38 million dollars of lemons and 28.9 million dollars of grapes. When we evaluated our exports in November by countries, Russia, Ukraine and Romania took the first three places. We exported 168.3 million dollars to Russia, 23.6 million dollars to Ukraine and 16.5 million dollars to Romania. Qatar, Israel and Austria were the countries where we achieved a significant increase in export volume in the said period.
