Explosion at paint factory in Iran: 65 injured

65 people were injured in an explosion at a paint factory in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province.

 

An Explosion occurred at the Atlasfam Paint paint factory in Azershahr, Iran ‘S East Azerbaijan Province.

A total of 65 people were injured, 10 of them seriously, in the explosion. East Azerbaijan Red Crescent General Manager Hamid Mencem said in a statement, “Today, at 12:42 local time, an explosion occurred at the Atlasfam Paint paint factory. While 150 people were affected by the explosion, 65 people were injured, 10 of them seriously. Mencem said that three rescue teams and ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

East Azerbaijan Crisis Management General Manager Muhammed Bakır Hunerber noted that the explosion occurred in the paint warehouse and the fire that followed spread throughout the factory. “Initial indications show that the gas leak in the paint tank caused the explosion,” Hunerber said.

Hunerber said that the injured were transferred to hospitals in the city and the surrounding areas and said, “The possibility of an increase in the number of injured continues due to the severity of the explosion.
