Eurozone investor confidence hits 29-month low

Investor confidence in the Euro Zone fell more than expected. The index, which fell for the second month in a row, reached its lowest level in 29 months.

According to the report announced by Sentix, the investor confidence index, which was at the level of -31.8 points in the previous month, decreased to -38.3 points in October. Analysts thought the index would fall to -34.7 points.

Thus, investor confidence displayed its worst outlook since May 2020.

The current index fell from -26.5 points to -35.5 points, the lowest level since August 2020.

Investor expectations index, on the other hand, decreased from -37.0 points to -41.0 points and repeated its worst value since December 2008, which it had seen the previous month.

The situation in Germany is getting worse

In Germany, the largest economy in the Eurozone, the situation points much worse. The Sentix investor confidence index fell for the fourth month in a row, from -29.9 points to -37.4 points. Thus, it was the lowest level since May 2009.

While the current index decreased from -23.5 points to -33.5 points, the expectations index decreased from -36.0 points to -41.3 points. Thus, the current index has seen its lowest value since August 2020, while the expectation index has seen its lowest value of all time.

The survey was carried out between 6-8 October and 1,331 investors, 249 of which were institutional, participated.

The Sentix Index is calculated from the analysis of surveys conducted with investors since 2001.
