“This week we will focus on providing a response to this aggression,” said Josep Borrell, EU High Representative For Foreign Affairs And Security Policy, Saying That Russian leader Vladimir Putin is guilty of causing so much suffering not only to Ukrainians but to the whole world .

WHAT’S IN THE PACKAGE

While it’s been debated whether the sanctions have worked so far, Borrell believes they’ve worked. Borrell said that after the sanctions, Russia’s public deficit increased 14 times, the trade deficit became much larger, and its revenue from fuels fell by half. The new sanctions package, which will be officially announced with the agreement of the member states before February 24, is expected to focus on export bans on critical technological and industrial products. A ban on products that allow military-civilian use that Putin can benefit from in the war will also be among the items in the package. It is calculated that the package will have a negative impact of 11 billion Euros on the Russian economy.
