MESSAGE FROM THE ISRAEL TEAM
After the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, a team of 450 people from Israel took part in search and rescue efforts in the region. 19 people were rescued alive in the wreckage where the Israeli team participated in the rescue efforts. Israeli female officers in the team told what they experienced while trying to remove the wreckage in Kahramanmaraş. Lieutenant Zohar Lupatin said, “When I was informed that I would be joining the delegation, I realized that I had a lot of responsibility and a chance to save lives. We came to a collapsed building, it was very unstable. We joined a Turkish rescue team working with us in the same area. We worked together for hours to find the people who remained in the wreckage. It was extraordinary. and they worked in full cooperation with us in an inspiring way. Something that happened throughout the works, a whistle, a call for silence, made the entire main street of the city quiet. The cars stopped, all the people stopped, everyone was completely silent. They tried to hear voices from the wreckage and find the survivors. It was a lively and powerful experience. I share my sadness about the tragic disaster that has befallen the Turkish people and hope that it will see better days.”

‘They treated us very generously’
Lieutenant Hila Levi said, “My commander called to ask if I wanted to join the delegation, my first answer was a clear ‘yes’. Saving lives and fulfilling our duty is every savior’s dream. We faced difficult landscapes. It was difficult to understand the situation people were in one minute after an earthquake. At the same time, we hoped to hear just a small voice from the rubble to find another sign to save another life. The Turks are wonderful people, although they had little to give due to the Earthquake, they were generous and respected us which in itself is admirable. I hope they stay strong, “We all stand by them and support them,” he said.

‘HEAVY DAMAGE’
Captain Linoy Dimri also stated that he had an unusual experience and said, “I don’t think any words, photos or videos can explain what happened there, both in terms of the heavy destruction and the environment and the actions taken during the attack.”
Stating that he was part of the team that pulled the 9-year-old boy out of the wreckage at the 120th hour, Dimri said, “We were able to save him after he was under the rubble for 120 hours. Hearing a child’s voice, the cry of ‘help’, and knowing that there is life below, is crazy and inconceivable. experience. Another powerful situation I experienced was the silencing of the area with a single whistle. With a call, the entire surrounding area quieted down, everyone stood still so we could rescue him if there was a sound from under the rubble. When they offered to join the delegation, of course, I said ‘yes’ without hesitation. This is me. ” It’s my duty and that’s why I joined the Search And Rescue Unit To Save Lives.”
