Germany and the Netherlands alone have around 50% of all electric car charging stations active in Europe. This was revealed by an infographic by ACEA . Italy, after all, does not come out very badly.

The road to the electric transition hoped for by the European Union is still long. According to a report by Ernst & Young, Europe will need 65 million charging points for electric cars by 2035. The vast majority of these will have to be for residential use – and therefore installed in European homes and apartment buildings.

There are currently around 300,000 charging points across Europe. What is surprising is that 50% of the charging stations are concentrated in just two countries: Germany – with 60,000 charging points – and the Netherlands, with 90,000 points.

The gap with other nations is extremely large. Continuing in the report by ACEA, for example, we discover how the third country for the number of recharging points, France , stops at just 37,128. Well, in relation to the population, also Sweden with its 25,197 charging points for electric and, finally, Italy with 23,533 charging stations.

The ranking is closed by Cyprus and Malta, with 57 and 98 charging areas. Numbers, after all, understandable if we consider the peculiarities of the two islands and their relatively small population.
