NASA has created an independent study group in charge of monitoring and investigating the phenomenon of UAP, acronym for Unidentified Aerial Phenomena . Unidentified aerial phenomena. The same agency puts its hands in front: “there is no evidence that suggests that they are phenomena of extraterrestrial origin.” In short, no conspiracy a la Men in Black.

The group will formally start the research activity starting from next October. It will be led by David Spergel, president of the Simons Foundation in New York. As expected, the study group will approach the UAP phenomenon using the scientific method. A delicate task, which will require us to scientifically explain phenomena about which we still know very little.

For the US government it is a priority, it concerns the protection of national security and the defense of airspace.

Thomas Zurbuchen , a NASA executive, explained that the group will have access to an extensive archive, with Earth and Space observations of these phenomena. “We have the tools and human resources to improve our understanding of the unknown,” he added. “I want to be very clear, this is the true definition of science, this is what we are called to do”.

The results of the studies will always be made available to the public. NASA then specified that the research project is independent from a similar initiative of the military air force, namely the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force .
