Detention 34 years after Lockerbie disaster

A suspect associated with the Lockerbie disaster in 1988 was detained in the USA 34 years later.

USA It was stated that the Ministry of Justice informed the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster that the suspect Abu Agila Muhammed Mesut was detained in the USA. Mesut, who was accused by the USA of being the third person in connection with the attack in 2020, is alleged to be the bomber of the disaster. Although the USA has brought charges against different names before, Mesut will be the first person to appear in court regarding the incident in the USA. Only Abdelbaset al-Megrahi had been found guilty of the terrorist attack that took place 34 years ago, and was released by Scotland after being diagnosed with cancer and died in Libya in 2012. Al-Megrahi had pleaded not guilty until his death. In December 1988, a Boeing 747 passenger plane flying from London to New York crashed over the Scottish town of Lockerbie when a bomb exploded in the cabin.
