CUP CONGRATULATIONS TO QATAR
Congratulating the UAE on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of its establishment at the beginning of the meeting, Emir of Qatar Al Sani expressed his hope that the visit will contribute to the development and broadening of the joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries. UAE President Al Nahyan congratulated the Emir of Qatar and his people for their success in hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Al Nahyan said, “This achievement is a pride for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Arab world.” The UAE, along with its ally Saudi Arabia, started to impose an embargo on Qatar in 2017 on the grounds that it ‘supports radical jihadist organizations’ in the Middle East. However, the softening process started with the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Qatar last December.
