Death toll rises to 120 in protests in Sudan

In Sudan, 1 more person died in protests against the military intervention of the army on October 25, 2021 and the subsequent decisions, while the death toll rose to 120.

Sudan Central Committee of Doctors announced that a person who was shot in the stomach died during the demonstrations held in the city of Umdurman yesterday.

According to the committee, with this last death, 120 people have lost their lives so far as a result of the security forces’ intervention in the protests against military intervention.

The Sudanese army seized the civilian government on October 25, 2021 on the grounds of security and survival threats, declared a state of emergency and detained dozens of politicians, including the prime minister.

In the country, attempts to resolve the political crisis have not yet yielded any results.

The army states that it will remain in power until a civilian government is formed, which represents all factions and is agreed upon by the political groups.

Elections are scheduled for July 2023 in Sudan.
