Another hypothesis has also been proposed by Steven J. Mithen, archaeologist at the English University of Reading. From his perspective, dance represents an action that humans needed to show their fitness and coordination. Qualities that in prehistoric society were useful for survival.


What is the use of dancing today?

Today dance is certainly one of the important components of our society. The main source of dance today turns out to be that of physical attraction between humans. It is therefore used as a way to get to know and attract a possible partner to yourself .

Psychologists at Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK, have investigated the very aspect that links dance to physical attraction. They used an avatar that repeated the steps of various dancers and asked 57 males and 143 females which moves were the sexiest.

It has been found that women are attracted to men who move their upper body, who use a lot of space to dance and who vary their movements. They also noted a curious preference for men who flexed and turned their right knee more.
