Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel hasn’t started yet

Production on the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 won’t start until next year.
As you know, Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most anticipated games of recent years. However, the game had a very troubled exit when it first came out. The release of the game before it was fully ready brought reactions. So much so that the game was seen as a complete disappointment.
However, with the patches and additional packages released over time, the game recovered a bit. After this point, it seemed difficult for the game to recover its reputation, but this time the Cyberpunk anime came into play. The release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, set in the same universe as the game, on Netflix has increased the interest in the game again. Cyberpunk 2077 increased its sales thanks to the momentum it captured with anime and managed to sell 20 million copies in total.
Despite all the negative comments it received, its extremely good sales performance brought the sequel with it.
CD Projekt RED studio recently announced that a sequel is coming. However, it seems that we will have to wait a long time for this sequel.
CD Projekt Red manager Piotr Nielubowicz has announced that the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, which is codenamed Project Onion, has not yet begun production. Nielubowicz said that even preliminary preparations for the game will not begin until next year. Nielubowicz stated that they will focus more on the sequel after the additional package called Phantom Liberty is released.
Preliminary preparations for the game will begin in 2023, which likely means that production won’t pick up speed until 2024. This shows that we will have to wait a long time for the sequel of Cyberpunk 2077.
