After the first beta tests, the WhatsApp Communities are finally available to everyone, even in Italy. The roll out is underway in these hours and should gradually reach all users. The novelty is included in version 22.24.81 of the app, which has been available on both iOS and Android for a few hours.

We therefore advise you to update WhatsApp to the latest version available on your reference marketplace.

  • New feature: communities. Bring related groups together in a dedicated space. Send alerts and add new or existing groups to communities.
Go to the Community tab to get started.
  • Create and send polls in chats. Tap the + button and select Survey to get started.
  • Group video calling now has a new interface and supports up to 32 participants.

reads the changelog of the new update.

Communities can be described as supergroups, which in turn are divided into different thematic channels. A bit like an old forum, or like Discord servers.

All features will be rolled out gradually over the next few weeks, so some users may have to wait a little longer. Communities can host up to 5,000 participants and can be used to join and manage related groups – such as work or class chats.
