China will support the development of Gulf countries

Chinese President Xi Jinping said that they will support the development of the Gulf countries in various fields.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, in his official visit to Saudi Arabia, gave the message that they will work with the Gulf region for a “new and increasing cooperation model in energy”.

In his article published in the Saudi Arabian-based daily Er-Riyad, Xi evaluated the relations between China and the Gulf countries.

Expressing that “Chinese and Arab civilizations shined on both ends of Asia” with the trade that developed from the past to the present, along with the Silk Road, Spice Road and the sea, Xi stated that they intend to open a “new era” in relations with the Arab world.

Evaluating that Arab countries have “enormous potential”, the President of China noted that “Arab countries with diverse natural resources and developed industries have achieved great success in the field of construction”.

Noting that China has improved its relations with Arab countries, especially in the last 10 years, Xi emphasized that they have established “comprehensive strategic partnerships” with 12 Arab countries.

Pledge to support the development of Gulf countries

Xi informed that cooperation agreements were signed with 20 Arab countries within the scope of the Belt and Road Project, which aims to revive trade and economic relations on China’s historical Silk Road.

Underlining that China is developing its relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member countries in a “healthy and stable manner”, Xi said, “China continues to be the largest trade partner of the GCC and the largest importer of petrochemical products.”

The President of China announced that they will work with the Gulf region for a “new and increasing cooperation model in energy” and will support the development of the Gulf countries in various fields.

Chinese President Xi started his 3-day visit to Saudi Arabia yesterday. During his visit to Riyadh, Xi will attend the China-Arab Countries Summit and the China-Gulf Cooperation Organization Summit, as well as meeting with Saudi officials.
