Iata-Walsh: Air travel continues to go strong

IATA data attests that the recovery of air travel continues to grow . Total traffic in September 2022 increased by 57.0% compared to 2021. Worldwide the increase is now at 73.8%. Domestic traffic in September increased by 6.9% compared to a year ago. September 2022 total domestic traffic was 81% (September 2019 levels). International traffic , on the other hand, increased by 122.2% compared to September 2021. September international RPKs reached 69.9% of September 2019 levels.

Asia – Pacific airlines reported traffic growth of 464.8% in 2022 compared to 2021. Capacity increased 165.3% and load factor climbed 41.5 percentage points to 78, 3%. The traffic of European carriers had an increase of 78.3%. Capacity increased 43.8 percent and load factor climbed 16.3 percentage points to 84.1 percent. 149.7% is the increase recorded by Middle Eastern airlines . September capacity was up 63.5% over the prior year period. Load factor climbed 27.6% to 80%.

North Americans with a traffic increase of 128.9%. Capacity grew 63.0% and load factor 24.6% to 85.4%. September traffic of Latin American airlines increased by 99.4% compared to 2021. Again with reference to September, capacity increased by 73.7%, load factor by 10.8 percentage points to 83, 5%. African ones by 90.5% compared to 2021, in September. Their capacity grew by 47.2% and load factor by 16.7 percentage points to 73.6%.

Japan ‘s domestic RPKs rose 127.9% in September. They are now nearly 75.6% of 2019 levels. Domestic US traffic increased 16.8% in September compared to 2021. Load factor of 85.4% was the highest among domestic markets .
