Is Amazon preparing to lay off in Italy too? “Some roles may no longer be needed,” the company says

Amazon ‘s redundancy plan could also involve Italian employees , the VP and Country manager of Amazon Italy Mariangela Marseglia anticipated. “After having made so many assumptions we are starting a general verification process also for the new economic context which could lead to adjustments”, she explained on the occasion of an Anci meeting held yesterday in Bergamo. “In case they won’t be indiscriminate: we will evaluate every personal situation with the utmost attention”.

 

In short, for the moment there is nothing confirmed yet. In the United States, the giant is preparing to leave 10,000 employees at home, all of them in the corporate division. Amazon currently employs 17,000 workers in Italy , of which 14,000 have permanent contracts.

Earlier this month Meta, the company that controls Facebook and Instagram, announced the layoff of 11,000 employees. Part of the redundancies also involved employees of Facebook Italy .
