Apple Watch with integrated camera? Apple really thought about it
A patent filed in 2019 imagines an Apple Watch capable of taking photographs. What happened to the project?
Apple is working on a new Apple Watch with a camera . Or, at least, he thought about making one. It would be the first wearable of the bitten apple capable of taking pictures. For the moment there is only one patent: the company filed it in 2019.
Curiously, Apple’s imagined smartwatch would have had a camera set in the crown. An LED would have made it possible to take photos even in low light conditions. The patent looks like it came out of a 007 movie. Or Johnny English, if you prefer.
Three years have passed since the patent filing date and for this reason it is also not clear if it is a project that Apple is still working on, or if on the contrary it is an idea that was eventually discarded. It wouldn’t be unusual: companies like Apple file thousands of different patents every year, and most projects will never see the light of day.
What is certain is that in a very few months, in September, Apple will present its new generation of Apple Watch. The new Apple Watch Series 8 will have a new design and may introduce a body temperature detector for the first time. Apple could also present a version of its smartwatch dedicated to extreme sports and, therefore, resistant to shocks.
