Berlin, the largest cylindrical aquarium in the world explodes: at least two injured

Berlin ‘s AquaDom exploded – it was the largest cylindrical aquarium in the world, which is why it was internationally known. It was located inside a hotel, the Radisson Blu . Authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion, which is currently unknown.

 

The accident required the intervention of more than 100 firefighters: the aquarium was 16 meters high – that is, like a five or six-storey building – over 1,500 tropical fish swam inside it , almost all of them dead in following the explosion. The enormous quantity of water (over 1 million litres) contained inside the aquarium has invaded the entire structure, causing damage up to the third floor and flooding part of the surrounding streets.

The AquaDom was 16 meters high and contained 1 million liters of water, which was poured throughout the structure and surrounding streets after the explosion. It contained 1,500 tropical fish, many of which died as a result of the accident.

The first report by the authorities reports at least two injuries, while it will be difficult to quantify the exact extent of the damage.

 

The structure of the aquarium was completely destroyed, resulting in an endless cascade of water. Some videos released on social networks show the disastrous effects of the explosion. According to the Bild newspaper, the accident was caused by erosion of the structure.
