Apple has announced the new M2 Pro and M2 Max, two latest generation SoCs (system on a chip) that take the already extraordinary performance of Apple Silicon processors to even higher levels.

The M2 Pro will offer up to 12-core CPU and up to 19-core GPU, along with up to 32GB of fast unified memory. M2 Max further enhances the capabilities of the M2 Pro chip, with up to 38-core GPU, double the unified memory bandwidth and up to 96GB of unified memory.

Apple is unique in creating SoCs like the M2 Pro and Ma2 Max. They offer incredible pro-level performance coupled with industry-leading power efficiency. With an even more powerful CPU and GPU, support for a larger unified memory system and an advanced media engine, the M2 Pro and M2 Max represent impressive advances for Apple chips

said Johny Srouji, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware technologies.

«With the M2 Pro, apps like Adobe Photoshop can handle heavy workloads faster than ever before, and compiling code into Xcode is up to 2.5x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro model» , reads the press release published by Apple.

The M2 Max has the same next-generation 12-core CPU as the M2 Pro chip, while the GPU is even more powerful, with up to 38-cores, and is paired with a larger L2 cache. Graphics speed is up to 30% faster than the M1 Max. Apple describes it as “the world’s most powerful and efficient chip in a pro laptop”.
