Emphasizing that this year’s natural gas export volume is a record in the country’s history, Mücelled noted that his country is trying to increase its production and export volume, taking into account the rising natural gas prices globally.

On December 13, Algerian President Abdulmecid Tebboune called on Sonatrach, the National Oil and Gas Company of Algeria, to double its gas production, maintain its position in the global market, and increase the amount of gas to 100 billion cubic meters of exports by 2023.

Tebbun, at the event held in the capital, said, “The country produces 102 billion cubic meters of gas per year, half of which is consumed in the local market. Hopefully, it will reach 100 billion cubic meters of export in 2023”.

According to Sonatrach’s data, Algeria’s annual gas production volume is 130 billion cubic meters, while more than half of it is exported, approximately the same volume is consumed in the domestic market, and the rest is pumped back into the natural gas fields.
